Playing the ukulele has been a big part of my life since Primary 2. It all began when my parents saw a friend’s child playing it and thought I should give it a try. The ukulele, a smaller and simpler version of the guitar with only four strings, seemed easy enough to pick up—especially since I had some guitar experience. But it wasn’t without its challenges. I had to relearn all the chords, and mastering the right strumming patterns took time and practice.
What really helped was my teacher—someone incredibly patient and kind, who made the learning process enjoyable. Having that kind of support allowed me to improve faster and kept me motivated even when things got tricky.
Fast forward to today, and I’m grateful I stuck with it. I can now play faster, more complex songs, and jamming with friends has become one of my favorite ways to unwind. The ukulele isn’t just an instrument to me—it’s a source of stress relief, creativity, and fun.
